SPAFFORD
SPAFFORD
Spafford is an eclectic blend of driving rock, funk, dance, and light. The result is something like Electro-Funk Therapy. Melting through genres while creating an illuminated mind-and-mood
altering experience night after night, Spafford is lighting up the southwest and beyond with
their improvisational prowess. They are paving the way for something new, yet familiar, that beckons to be seen, heard and felt.
Since their first performance on New Years Eve of 2009, Spafford has built a following around the addictive live shows they put on. They have become a featured act for Vegas late-night spots, such as the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino and The Palms, and the band has hosted many of the official after-parties for Further and Widespread Panic. When Spafford isn't playing notable festivals such as McDowell Mountain Music Festival, The Gem & Jam, Firefly Gathering and Serenity Gathering, they're off on the road touring the South-West where they've shared the stage with bands such as Wide Spread Panic, Hot Buttered Rum, Particle, EOTO, Tea Leaf Green, Howlin' Rain, The Motet, Toubab Krewe and many more as they continue to expand and extend their route to bring their experience to new places. 2015 has already brought the release of a long-awaited live CD, Volume 1 with many more to come.
Connecting with fans is always the primary focus of all of Spafford's endeavors. They understand the importance of embracing those who enjoy and connect with their music. A fan was recently quoted saying "Spafford is what this world needs...a combination of all genres to connect all walks of life." Whether stopping to enjoy fresh local food, or making connections with new faces in new cities, Spafford continues to push forward with their goal of changing lives, one show at a time.
Spafford is:

Mungion
Mungion is a band that transcends genre classification with their intense musicality, exploratory improv, and light-hearted, yet dedicated attitude on-stage and in the studio. Blending elements of Rock, Jazz, Latin, Metal, Bluegrass, Jam, Electronic, Classical, World, and Funk, they create a true fusion of musics. Though, as they are quick to point out, it is not fusion, but rather a synthesis of many different melodic ideas into a new and original one.
Based out of Chicago, the band is comprised of veteran Midwest musicians Justin Reckamp, Sean Carolan, Joe Re, and Matt Kellen. All coming from eclectic and diverse musical backgrounds, the melding of their individualistic approaches to music allows them to tap in to a wide variety of styles and genres, and, in turn, results in a truly distinctive effect. Together, Mungion is creating a unique and innovative collective sound all of their own, incorporating many different characteristic approaches into a singular, musical stew.
After forming in Spring of 2015, Mungion has been blazing through the Midwest music scene, and have already established themselves as a force to be reckoned with throughout the country. Their strong devotion to touring continually puts them in front of new, rapidly-growing crowds every evening, and allows them the opportunity to cater each night’s music to the spectators in presence. Already topping festival bills, and headlining many of the highest profile venues in the midwest, they have nurtured a devoted and passionate fan-base through their close relationship with their audiences – never shy to engage with them on a personal level, as well as on a musical one.
Being extremely well-versed from an artistic standpoint, coupled with the ability to engage their listeners at every note, offers these gentleman the opportunity to take their listeners on a mystical, spiritual journey through the sonic landscape. Touted by Live for Live Music as “Chicago’s up and coming Jam Legends”, Mungion are sure to continue making waves and throwing artistic molds to the wayside for many years to come. Also, be on the lookout for their recently released debut studio album, “Scary Blankets”.
