Artifakts
Artifakts
What happens when gritty electronic basslines meet vintage sample laced hip hop? You get the boom bap sample sound of indie producer Artifakts. Artifakts is the ever-evolving, electronic hip-hop project of Garret Meyer. Ranging from gritty down-sampled soulful stomp to mellow, airy and ambient hip hop, Artifakts has carved out a unique sound that not even trip hop can touch.

Hailing out of small town Newton, Wisconsin, 20 year old Garret began the collaborative project "Artifakts" in February 2012, and was joined by fellow 20 year old electronic producer William Thompson (Charleston, South Carolina) in March 2012. Following a summer festival circuit and live debut, Artifakts released the 11 track "Like This If" beat tape independently, featuring a smorgasbord of vinyl sampled, short electronic infused hip hop and airy trip-hop instrumentals à la Flying Lotus, Michal Menert, and DJ Shadow. Artifakts is set to release an EP in 2013 with sole works from Meyer.

Artifakts has also shared the stage with some of the biggest names in the scene such as Pretty Lights, MartyParty (of PANTyRAiD), and Cherub; not to mention plenty of collaborations with producers around the US. With multiple tracks under his belt, Artifakts set himself apart as one of the most sought after new electronic producers around.

Sound architect Rhett Whatley, also known as Daily Bread, utilizes an expansive record collection to compose unique, genre-bending experimental hiphop, electro-soul, and EDM titles.

"If you haven't had a helping of your Daily Bread yet, it's time for you to get acquainted with beat maker Rhett Whatley coming out of Atlanta with flowing electro-soul for your ear buds. With a style reminiscent of his hip-hop influences J Dilla and DJ Premier, Whatley has crafted a sound at the rendezvous of electro-soul and hip-hop with smooth beats accompanying classic vocals sampled straight from vinyl."- White Raver Rafting

Derlee
Derlee
Born and raised in the Pittsburgh Metropolitan area, Derlee’s take on music very much embodies that of the region in which he hails. A region that takes great pride in its hard-working Blue Collar roots, as well as its transformation to a present-day leader in innovation. Derlee’s brand of “Chill-Hop/Soul” is a seamless blend of sample-based music, reminiscent of a much simpler time, meticulously woven together with smooth melodies and contemporary Hip-Hop/Electronica. As heartfelt as it is optimistic and forward-thinking, its honesty is evident by an abundance of soul. In a time where beatmakers come aplenty and success is often measured by instant gratification through the social masses, Derlee strives to stay true to his sound as well as perpetuate his creative expression through his uplifting brand of electronic music.

“As we all know beatmakers come a plenty, but there is that occasional time you come across one and they immediately jump out at you — Derlee is definitely one of those beat makers who stick out…

Pittsburgh’s Derlee is definitely one of those producers who is about to pop…”
